Some wholesale apps charge a flat monthly amount. One popular portal steps the bill up when the order count crosses a printed cap. That is a different decision from “which app runs a VIES check”, and it is a different weighting from the scorecard published on 2 November. On this check I opened the live listings of OO ‑ B2B & Wholesale, BSS B2B Wholesale Pricing, and SparkLayer, the OO module map, and Shopify Help on B2B features by plan. Help puts companies and quantity price breaks on Basic, Grow, Advanced, and Plus. It does not print an app’s monthly fee or an order cap. An old OO price of $8.95, and a seven-day trial, are not on the listing. Citing them means the source is dead.
Re-read the cards if a plan gains an order limit, if SparkLayer publishes a tier above 150 orders, or if BSS stops putting POS and the ERP API on the $99 card.
Filter | Why it knocks a card out |
|---|---|
The monthly amount is printed in USD per 30 days | Do not invent a percent of revenue when no card states one |
The plan that includes quotes or price breaks does not hide an order cap | A portal that stops at 50 orders is a different product from a flat $37 |
Intra-EU VAT (VIES, or tax-exempt on the cart) is named on a card if that is the job | A category chip that says “tax exemptions” is not a check |
A yearly price is quoted only when the card shows it | OO prints a 17% saving, BSS 10%, SparkLayer none on this fetch |
POS, ERP, or accounting is credited only on the card that names it | “Works with” is not the cheapest plan |
None of these three listings bills a percent of GMV. SparkLayer’s scale lever is an order cap. BSS’s is a more expensive card for POS and an API. OO’s cards, as fetched today, state no order maximum.
Figures are card prices, not an invoice pulled from a shop. OO Starter ($22) is unlimited custom and volume pricing plus VIES. OO Growth ($37) is the step up when you also need bulk forms, quotes, order limits, or the wholesale cart. BSS starts unlimited pricing rules at $29, puts “tax-exempt on the cart” at $49, and puts POS plus an ERP API at $99. SparkLayer ties the plan to an order count.
Orders / month | OO if price lists and VIES are enough | OO if you also need quotes and bulk forms | BSS | SparkLayer |
|---|---|---|---|---|
40 | Starter $22 | Growth $37 | $29 for pricing rules, $49 if the cart must be tax-exempt | Starter $49, up to 50 orders |
120 | Still $22 | Still $37 | Same cards, no order cap printed | Growth covers 100, so 120 lands on Pro at $299 (up to 150) |
200 | Still $22 | Still $37 | Same cards | Pro stops at 150. No higher public card |
Yearly prices on the same fetch: OO $220 and $370 (save 17%), BSS $313.20, $529.20 and $1,069.20 (save 10%). SparkLayer shows no yearly amount. OO and the BSS $29 and $49 cards print a 14-day trial. The BSS $99 card does not repeat that line. SparkLayer prints 14 days on the paid cards. Its free plan stays at 5 orders a month.

The 2 November scorecard weighted VIES heavily and put OO just ahead of BSS. Today the question is the bill as orders grow. Functionality on the plan you then need: 25%. Price-to-value of that card: 20%. Whether an order cap is printed: 15%. Integrations (POS, ERP, accounting): 10%. Reviews: 10%. Reliability (badge, age, docs): 10%. Ease of use: 5%. Support: 5%.
A missing hard filter removes an app before the average. If the pain is removing VAT on an intra-EU order, the VIES checklist is that filter. SparkLayer does not name VIES. It fails that filter even when the number below is only about the bill.
Criterion | Weight | OO | BSS | SparkLayer |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Functionality on the growth plan | 25% | 4.5 | 4.5 | 3.0 |
Price-to-value of that card | 20% | 5.0 | 3.5 | 2.0 |
Order cap | 15% | 5.0 | 5.0 | 2.0 |
Integrations | 10% | 3.0 | 5.0 | 4.5 |
Reviews | 10% | 3.5 | 4.5 | 4.5 |
Reliability | 10% | 4.0 | 4.5 | 3.5 |
Ease of use | 5% | 3.5 | 4.0 | 4.0 |
Support | 5% | 4.0 | 4.5 | 4.5 |
Weighted total | 100% | 4.30 | 4.40 | 3.13 |
OO’s arithmetic: (4.5×25 + 5×20 + 5×15 + 3×10 + 3.5×10 + 4×10 + 3.5×5 + 4×5) / 100 = 4.30. BSS: (4.5×25 + 3.5×20 + 5×15 + 5×10 + 4.5×10 + 4.5×10 + 4×5 + 4.5×5) / 100 = 4.40. SparkLayer: (3×25 + 2×20 + 2×15 + 4.5×10 + 4.5×10 + 3.5×10 + 4×5 + 4.5×5) / 100 = 3.125, shown as 3.13.
BSS finishes 0.10 ahead. That is the honest result of these weights. The $99 card names POS and an ERP API, the listing includes Dutch in a long language list, and 1,205 reviews outweigh 34. OO wins the two rows that are actually about the bill: $22 or $37 with no order cap, and VIES already on Starter. SparkLayer loses this question because 120 orders already sit on the $299 card, and 200 orders have no public plan. Quoting on SparkLayer is on that same $299 card. On OO, quote request is Growth at $37.
OO’s 4.5 on functionality is not a 5. Quotes, bulk forms, and order limits are not on Starter. The module map puts Tax Exempt and volume pricing on Starter, and quotes plus the wholesale cart on Growth. Free stays one price list and one form. The 3.0 on integrations is deliberate: Checkout, Flow, and Admin are named. Xero, QuickBooks, and POS are not.
OO is Built for Shopify, 5.0 from 34 (33 fives, one four), launched 9 February 2024. Visible cards: 6 October 2026 Sensorkranenwinkel.nl (reverse-charged VAT), 11 June POPlab Sounds, 21 April Rohleder AT. The four-star text was not on those cards. Resources showed no docs link. The collection still opens.
BSS is Built for Shopify, 4.9 from 1,205. Histogram: about 1.1K fives (rounded), 33 fours, 2 threes, 5 twos, 24 ones. On 4 November the count was 1,201 with 23 ones. Visible cards from 23, 22, and 14 October 2026 are positive, with a reply on 29 October. Launched 18 September 2020. Works-with includes POS and Klaviyo.
SparkLayer has no Built for Shopify badge on this page. 4.9 from 388 (359 fives, 17 fours, 2 threes, 5 twos, 5 ones), launched 28 April 2021. Works with Cin7, Katana, Linnworks, QuickBooks, Unleashed, and Xero, but Xero, QuickBooks, and API access sit on Pro. VIES is absent. Reviews from 26, 9, and 8 October are positive, with replies on 19 October. Ease of use was not timed. Support evidence is those public replies plus the 6 October OO card.
B2B features by plan, 7 November 2026: B2B is on Basic, Grow, Advanced, and Plus, not on Starter or Retail. Companies, quantity price breaks, net terms, and the quick order list are on all of those plans. Basic, Grow, and Advanced allow up to three active catalog assignments across active B2B markets. Direct company catalogs and deposits are Plus. That page does not describe a VIES lookup or a public registration form with approve and reject.
Native is enough when you stay inside those three assignments and mark a company location tax-exempt by hand. A fourth market catalog without Plus, or a VAT number that has to hit VIES, is where an app bill starts. The Plus boundary is the 4 November note. Which URL may prove a sentence is the 6 November source note.
The app index on this site is apps. Shopify apps as a service: apps and integrations. The privacy policy is the general page, with no separate DPA.
OO ‑ B2B & Wholesale, 7 November 2026
On these weights BSS finishes at 4.40, OO at 4.30, and SparkLayer at 3.13. OO does not win the total. OO wins the bill: VIES and unlimited price lists at $22, quotes and bulk forms at $37, with no order cap on the card. BSS wins when the $99 card (POS, ERP API) and the review file are the requirement. SparkLayer does not win this question once you pass 150 orders a month, or once VIES is a must.
If a cap or a card price changes, 4.30 versus 4.40 is expired. The call to action is this listing, not another app: OO ‑ B2B & Wholesale.
