A merchant on Grow wants “Pickup” to disappear when the address is a PO box, and wants Express to stay for everyone else. That is not a new price. The method already exists. It should show on some checkouts and not on others. On this check I opened the live listing of OO ‑ Shipping Rates & Rules, the delivery-customization article, the plan article, and the listing of Advanced Shipping Rules. Shopify Help on shipping rates explains zones, flat amounts, and carrier-calculated rates. The carrier-calculated URL requested today returned that same overview, with no plan table. No Grow fee is quoted from Help. The split “hiding works on more plans, a custom checkout price does not” comes from the app docs read today.
That split expires if the docs start requiring Advanced for hide as well, or if Advanced Shipping Rules removes “No Hide/Show Rules” from the Lite card.
Requirement | Fails when |
|---|---|
The method is already at checkout | Hiding does not create a price. You cannot hide a rate you never built |
Hide by name or by type, plus rename and sort | Leaving a method out of a zone is a different job |
The action still runs when the shop may not use carrier-calculated rates | Otherwise you buy Advanced for a hide |
A new custom amount is a separate requirement | That still needs Advanced, a development store, Plus, or a carrier that is already active |
The cheapest card of an app does not explicitly ban hide | A category chip that says “Hide rates” is not a plan line |
A log of carrier requests is not proof the hide rule fired | Seven-day logs are about rates, not automatically about every hide |
The third row is the plan filter. The fifth row is where a paid competitor fails on its own Lite card.
Delivery customization overview, last updated 15 days ago, read 7 November 2026. The module does not create shipping prices. It changes methods that already appear at checkout, from Shopify, from this app’s carrier, or from another carrier. Actions: hide (all, by name, by type), show only matches or the cheapest or the highest, move to top or bottom, sort by price, rename. You create a rule, name it under Start when…, enable it for checkout, add conditions and actions on the canvas, and save. The last sentence of that article: delivery customization stays available when carrier-calculated rates are blocked by plan.
Shopify plan requirements, the same “15 days ago”, the same read date. Custom prices through the OO - Shipping Rate & Rules carrier generally need Advanced or higher, a development or Partner development store, or Shopify Plus or a similar enterprise plan. If the carrier is already active, the app treats the shop as eligible even when the displayed plan name looks lower. Hide, rename, and reorder work on more plans. You do not need Advanced only for that. An eligible shop sees the full checklist (zones, carrier, optional delivery rules, test checkout). A blocked shop sees a plan banner and a delivery-focused checklist.
A Grow plan billed yearly is not an automatic yes for a custom rate. This article does not list that exception. The 1 November carrier checklist is still that warning. Today’s question is the hide row, not the carrier row.

The listing, same morning: Free, 0 reviews, launched 28 October 2026, no Built for Shopify badge in the header, listing language English, works with Checkout. The fifth bullet is hide, rename, and reorder, plus logs. The hero names 40+ conditions, from postcode to customer tag and date. Inventing stars at zero reviews is not allowed. Resources on this listing do link to the docs. The product page on this site is OO Shipping Rates. The price on the listing stays Free.
Activity logs are not evidence of a hide. Test checkout and activity logs keep seven days of carrier requests: which zone, which rate, why a path did not apply. The 6 November source note already says that log does not have to show every hide rule. A hide that “does nothing” is tested at checkout, not in an empty log on a shop that is not allowed to call the carrier.
Advanced Shipping Rules, 7 November 2026. 4.8 from 320 reviews. Histogram: 298 fives, 7 fours, 2 threes, 5 twos, 8 ones. On 4 November the count was 321. Today it is 320. Launched 3 February 2016. No Built for Shopify badge in the header. The hero says you can hide, show, add to, or subtract from a rate, on postcode, SKU, tags, and more. The Customization category includes Hide rates and Rename options. Works with Checkout. Data access includes delivery customizations.
The Lite card is stricter than the hero.
Card | Price | Hide on that card |
|---|---|---|
Lite | $9 / month, 7-day live trial | The card prints “No Hide/Show Rules”. Up to 2 product groups, 1 blended rate |
Standard | $29, 7 days | Up to 5 product groups, 2 blended rates, blending rules. Hide/show is not in the list |
Next | $59, 7 days | Up to 20 product groups, postal-code subzones, “Toggle Rates based on Customer Tags”. The words hide/show are not there |
Top | $99, 7 days | Unlimited groups and blended rates, “All Features” |
Lite fails the requirement “hide”, on the card’s own words. Which higher card unlocks hide is not guessed: $29 does not name it, $59 names a toggle on customer tags, $99 says all features. The hero claims hide for the product. The Lite line is the only hard no. That app is stronger on other jobs: blended rates, product groups, and a file going back to 2016 with 320 reviews. Three visible cards (30 July, 21 July, and 1 September 2026) are positive about support and complex rules. No one-star card is on this screen, so there is no one-star reply to quote. Eight ones are still in the histogram.
OO’s listing is Free, and the docs say hide keeps working when the carrier is blocked by plan. Advanced Shipping Rules is older, the hero offers email and phone support, and the review file is much larger. Their Lite plan is the more expensive card that excludes this one function. That is the documented gap. It is not a reason to pretend their blended rates or their support are absent.
Shopify Help, Shipping rates, 7 November 2026: you set flat amounts, free shipping, or carrier-calculated rates inside zones. Profiles make different rules per product and location. The page also says many shops are still on profiles while rates move gradually to shipping options by market. Existing rates are migrated when a shop is upgraded.
A profile is enough when Express is never offered in a zone. You do not add the method there. A profile is not enough when the same method should appear, except for a PO box, a customer tag, or a cart above an amount. That is a condition at checkout time. That is delivery customization, not a second zone.
Custom prices remain the other job. They belong in the complex-rules use case and in the scorecard, not in a hide answer that sells Advanced “while you are here”. Apps as a service on this site: apps and integrations. Privacy: the general page, with no separate DPA on that page.
OO ‑ Shipping Rates & Rules, 7 November 2026
Advanced Shipping Rules, the same day
Hiding, on the docs read 7 November 2026, does not require Advanced. A custom checkout price still does: Advanced, a development store, Plus, or a carrier that is already on. Advanced Shipping Rules can hide — the hero and the category say so — but Lite at $9 prints “No Hide/Show Rules”. OO’s listing is Free, with zero reviews and no badge. That thin file is the honest drawback, not a hidden star rating.
If the plan sentence or the Lite line changes, this answer is expired. The listing for this hide requirement: OO ‑ Shipping Rates & Rules.
