Shopify wholesale volume discounts are, for most mixed EU shops, not a “buy 10, get 15%” table on the product page. They are a deal per buyer: installer 10% off retail, reseller 20%, distributor a negotiated net. Shopify automatic discounts and one public code make that deal public. A B2B form per group keeps it behind login.
This article covers why volume codes leak, how OO - EU B2B & Wholesale implements the staffel as a percentage on the bulk form, and what the docs explicitly do not do: stack rules, overwrite the regular product price, or park three tariffs in one form.
We already covered pricing per customer group. Here the focus is the discount itself: the percentage, the rules, and how you test that the cart matches the form.
Shopify can run automatic discounts and quantity breaks. Those belong to retail promotions: “3 units, 10% off.” A wholesale staffel hangs on who is buying, not only on how many. Put `TRADE20` on the whole shop and a consumer applies it, or it lands in a reseller chat. One code for a small installer and a national chain is not a tier; it is a leak.
Native B2B catalogs (Companies) exist. Catalogs and pricing in B2B ties products and prices to companies. Basic/Grow/Advanced cap active catalogs; Plus is wider. Many mixed D2C + wholesale stores still use ordinary customer accounts and tags. Then Shopify wholesale volume discounts live at tag level, in the same shop where retail stays untouched.
The rate must not leak on the regular product page. If your theme already shows 20% to logged-out visitors, the bulk form is theatre.
`VOLUME15` or `TRADE10`. Fast to launch, impossible to steer. No groups. Codes leak. Cart discounts sometimes stack with other promotions — nobody can reconstruct the rate.
“From 12 units, 8% off.” Consumers see it. B2B buyers still click SKU by SKU. A distributor with a different deal does not fit the same table.
Percentage plus a fixed price plus a per-SKU exception. Docs call that a setup mistake: mixing methods in one form produces unexpected prices.
Does not scale. The buyer cannot reorder against their staffel.
None of those give you: T1 sees 10%, T2 sees 20%, retail sees the Shopify price, on one catalogue.
OO - EU B2B & Wholesale is Built for Shopify. Listing: $8.95 / month or $101.88 / year (5% off), 7-day trial, USD. Listing categories include tiered pricing, volume discounts, customer groups, custom pricing, order minimums/limits. The pricing method the docs spell out for scalable wholesale tiers is the percentage on the bulk form.
How B2B pricing works: prices apply only inside that form, for customers who can access it. They do not change Shopify product prices, do not apply on the regular product page, and do not stack with other bulk forms. Each form has one strategy: individual prices, one fixed price, or a percentage discount. Best practice: percentages for scalable tiers, individual prices for negotiated accounts.
How to apply a percentage discount is concrete: choose *Apply percentage discount*, enter `10`. €100 becomes €90, €40 becomes €30. The discount applies to every product and variant in the form, on the original Shopify price, and follows when that retail price changes. Same page:
percentage overrides fixed pricing in that form;
Shopify product prices stay unchanged;
the same discount for all included products;
do not stack other pricing rules in the same form.
That is the Shopify wholesale volume discount you can document: T1 form 10%, T2 form 20%, each behind a unique tag. No second code, no leaked quantity table on the product page. Do not claim an automatic “from 50 units, extra 5%” layer in the same form — the pricing docs do not describe it. Volume lives in the group (who sees which percentage), plus what the listing also names (order minimums/limits), not in an extra discount you add on top.
Visibility stays tag-based, as in multiple bulk forms per group and tag-based visibility: logged in, tags match with OR, one bulk form per customer, do not reuse a tag. “All customers” is a common B2B setup mistake: retail then sees the staffel.
Fasteners. Retail buys by the box at the Shopify price. Installers (tag `Wholesale_T1`) get 10% on the wholesale assortment. Resellers (`Wholesale_T2`) get 20%. Two house distributors: individual nets on a third form, no percentage.
| Group | Tag | Pricing | | --- | --- | --- | | T1 installer | `Wholesale_T1` | 10% off Shopify price | | T2 reseller | `Wholesale_T2` | 20% off Shopify price | | Distributor | specific customers | individual prices |
Product source: a wholesale collection, so new SKUs join automatically. Primary path: a bulk order page in the menu (“Wholesale order”), not the product page. Prices live on the form.
How to test pricing rules: do not test as admin. Log in as T1 in a private window, enter quantities, open the cart, confirm cart = form and that no extra Shopify discount appeared. Then T2. After you change a percentage: save, refresh, retest.
If the price is wrong, it is almost always visibility or the wrong form — why prices are not applied correctly. Not “the staffel is broken”.
Install OO - EU B2B & Wholesale. $8.95/month or $101.88/year, 7-day trial, USD.
Create one bulk form per tier. Unique tag per form.
Choose *Apply percentage discount* and enter 10 or 20. Do not mix a fixed price in the same form.
Set visibility to tags (not All customers). Collection as the product source.
Add the bulk page to navigation. Turn the form On — enabled is not the same as visible in the theme.
Test accounts, private window, check the cart.
Registration with approval attaches the tag after review; that was the registration form article. VIES and net terms are on the listing; this piece stops at the staffel.
Do not claim the app replaces Shopify Plus B2B catalogs. It is an Online Origins flow on customer accounts, tags, and bulk forms.
A leaked volume code or a quantity break on the retail page is not a wholesale agreement. Shopify wholesale volume discounts are what you want when T1, T2 and retail share a catalogue, with a percentage that only the right logged-in group sees in the bulk form — without overwriting product prices and without stacking rules.
Put the first percentage in OO - EU B2B & Wholesale and let the next T1 order land at 10%, not at `TRADE20`.
