Width, drop, fabric, lining, install. One scrolling stack. Shoppers cannot see where measuring stops and finishing starts. Tickets arrive as “I included the returns in the drop” because the millimetre fields sat under a wall of controls.
Shopify calculator divider section headings are that break: a line in the form, optional short label — Dimensions, Material, Personalisation. No amount. No choice. Nothing on the order line.
Shopify Help Adding variants is still three options and 2048 variants. There is no fourth option named “heading”. Theme `properties[...]` do not change price. Options Price Calculator adds fields beside that cap. Divider is the display type for sections.
We already covered swapping the product image from an option. That is media. This is scan order inside the calculator.
Real SKUs (colour, fabric SKU, lift side) belong in Shopify options. Continuous millimetres do not. 2048 variant slots still cannot hold every millimetre.
Workarounds that fail:
A dummy select “— Dimensions —” priced at 0. It looks like a choice. Fulfilment sees a property. The formula must ignore `0`. Mark it required and you get empty “must pick the heading”.
A novel in the product description. Step 1 measure, step 2 fabric. The shopper is already on Add to cart.
Theme Liquid `<hr>` between blocks. Next theme copy, next template, second calculator: the rule sits on the wrong product. It does not know field order in the builder.
None of those insert a label between Width and Fabric, in the same calculator, with no price variable.
Divider: display-only. It separates groups of fields. Optional heading above the line, for long calculators: Dimensions, Materials, Finishing.
Heading (optional). Small bold label. Leave empty to draw only the line. Docs examples: `Dimensions` · `Material & finish` · `Personalisation`. Translate the heading per language on the calculator Translations tab.
In formulas:
never required
not a variable in formulas or conditional rules
not in line item properties
Variables and Field Values: Rich Text, Divider, and Calculation display are not formula variables. `product_price + dimensions_heading` is not a thing.
Look is global: Step 3 Customize design → Divider. Solid / dashed / dotted. Hex colour. Thickness 1–8 px. Margin 0–64 px. Older calculators that stored per-field divider styles still work as fallback when Design has no values.
Layout: full width of the form, even inside multi-column rows. Sit it between rows, not beside a field on the same row.
Docs tip: short heading, Rich Text immediately under it, then the inputs. That is scanning, not a price rule. Translations: Divider heading is translatable for every published store locale, same as field labels.
Conditional logic, live preview, Font Picker: Premium ($19.99). Divider is a form field. Do not sell Premium for a line.
A paragraph as the label. Docs want a small bold label. “Measure recess width at three heights and use the smallest, see PDF” belongs in Rich Text.
A surcharge dressed as a section. “Install +$25” in the heading. The line does not calculate. Checkout keeps the old total.
Two dividers in one row, left Dimensions, right Fabric. The line always spans the form. Side-by-side is not supported.
Store “Line Sight”. Native variant: control left/right. Calculator: width, drop, slat, install. Formula along the lines of `product_price + (width * height)`. Theme app extension on the product template.
Tickets: install filled before measuring; slat missed below the fold.
Install Options Price Calculator. Built for Shopify, 5.0 from 27 reviews. Listing USD: Free (20 uses; always free on Develop), $9.99 Starter (unlimited options, AI, formula builder, metafields, styling, multilingual), $19.99 Premium (conditional logic, Font Picker, live preview, price breakdown, lookup tables, file uploads), $39.99 (conditional fields, draft-order checkout, admin tools, setup service).
Step 1 fields. Add Divider, not an empty dropdown.
Heading `Dimensions`. Number fields under it. Do not touch the formula.
Second divider `Material & finish` above slat. Third `Install` — or a bare line if the word adds nothing.
Optional Rich Text under the first heading (“Recess width, not the frame”). Divider owns the section; Rich Text owns the sentence.
Design → Divider: solid, brand hex, 2 px, air above and below. One look for every line in that calculator.
Translations: German `Abmessungen` if that locale is live. Heading only. No extra Shopify option.
Server-side price validation still guards the money. Divider never writes `__ooCustomPrice`. Console tricks hit validation, not your section label.
Open the listing. Free to see the field. Starter if the heading must follow locales.
Put the extension on the product page.
Drop dividers between rows. Short heading or none. Never a price in the label.
Style in Step 3, not per field, unless you are on a legacy calculator.
Phone check: full width, heading readable, fields in builder order.
Three Shopify options stay three. Millimetres stay numbers. Sections stay Divider.
Shopify calculator divider section headings are not a fourth variant and not a surcharge. Display-only line, optional translatable heading, no formula variable, no line item. Global Design styles. Full width between rows. Pair with Rich Text for copy — still no price.
Put the section next to the fields in Options Price Calculator. Fewer tickets that treat install as part of drop.
